Power Over Pixels: Realme P4 Power Review - A Battery Beast with Camera Compromises

The Realme P4 Power boldly prioritizes endurance over photographic prowess, as its name subtly hints. While it boasts a monstrous 10,001mAh battery, a true rarity in its class, its camera setup feels like a step back from its predecessor, the P3 Ultra. Gone is the telephoto lens, a feature increasingly common in competing devices. Instead, we get a dual rear camera system and a rather uninspired front-facing shooter.
But here's where it gets controversial: Is sacrificing telephoto capabilities for unparalleled battery life a fair trade-off?
The main camera, while not groundbreaking, delivers surprisingly good results. It utilizes a Sony sensor, seemingly the same as the Oppo Reno15, offering decent detail and well-balanced exposures in daylight. Skin tones are natural, and subject separation is impressive even without Portrait mode's artificial bokeh. However, the sensor is smaller than the P3 Ultra's, potentially leading to slightly less impressive low-light performance.
And this is the part most people miss: The 2x zoom, while usable, pales in comparison to dedicated telephoto lenses found on rivals.
The ultrawide camera, carried over from the P3 Ultra, is serviceable but unremarkable. It captures decent colors and dynamic range but suffers from mediocre sharpness. Selfies, unfortunately, are the weakest link. They struggle in anything but ideal lighting conditions, often appearing soft and noisy.
Low-light performance is a mixed bag. The main camera surprisingly holds its own, producing detailed images with good dynamic range, though white balance can be inconsistent. The ultrawide, however, falters, producing soft and noisy results.
Video quality follows a similar pattern. 4K footage from the main camera is solid, but 2x zoom and ultrawide video are underwhelming. Stabilization is effective when stationary, but walking footage suffers from noticeable shake and focus hunting.
Verdict: The Realme P4 Power is a compelling choice for users who prioritize battery life above all else. Its camera, while not exceptional, is capable of capturing decent photos and videos in most situations. However, the lack of a telephoto lens and the underwhelming ultrawide and selfie cameras are significant drawbacks.
